The Hotbox

Reykjavík Music City, in partnership with Hitt Húsið – Youth Center and Iceland Music (ÚTÓN), invites representatives for the final acts of IME 2024 to participate in a fun and practical course on the music industry after the competition has ended.

What is offered?

The course is based on fun lectures, panel discussions, and practical projects and will cover all the main things musicians should know about the music industry.

Participants receive help with marketing, promotion and creation of promotional packages, as well as help with defining their target audience, guidance for financing music projects, solving technical issues with professionals, and more. There is also a strong emphasis on enhancing participants' networks within the Icelandic music industry through well-known guest lecturers.

The course will take place on April 9, 10, 13, and 14. After the course, there will be a concert on April 18, where participants will have the chance to perform for key figures in the Icelandic music industry and apply what they learned in the course.

The aim of the Hot Box program is to empower young musicians who are taking their first steps in the music industry by improving their knowledge and understanding of the industry. By providing them with the necessary tools and resources, the program seeks to equip participants to make informed decisions and develop their careers effectively.
