FTT, the association of composers and lyricists, gives the FTT Songwriter Award at IME 2024. The award comes with a support of 200,000 kr., which will undoubtedly benefit the winners.
FTT is an association that protects the rights of Icelandic composers and lyricists. It safeguards their copyright interests, fosters solidarity among members, and promotes more frequent performances and wider distribution of their works.
Last year, the band Dóra & Döðlurnar received the award. They are a self-titled ‘gella’ or ‘chick’ band that performs songs about love, heartbreak, and everything related to being a teenage girl. The band, consisting of six young female musicians, does this by writing beautiful and poetic lyrics about the teenage years.
