The following 24 bands competed: Auschwitz, Baphomet, Bar 8, Blimp, Carpe diem, Clockwork diabolus, Condemned, Cranium, Creamation, Dyslexia, Dystophia, Forgarður helvítis, Goblin, In memoriam, Inflammatory, Keldusvínin, Kolrassa krókríðandi, Maunir, Niturbasarnir, Not correct, Sjúðann, Skítamórall, Tjalz Gissur, and Uxorius. Five additional bands were mentioned in Morgunblaðið's list but did not compete for some reason, they were B.R.A., Exit, Exorcismos, Hydro and Phimosis.
Did You Know?
- Over 40 bands applied to participate. Fewer people were able to attend than wanted to. 24 bands competed.
- In 1992, the focus was still on heavy rock in the Music Experiments.
- Half of the bands were from Reykjavík.
- 1st place was awarded 30 hours of studio time at Sýrland, 2nd place received 25 hours at Grjótnáman, and 3rd place was granted 20 hours at Studio Stef.
- At the finals, the judges' decision carried a 70% weight, while the remaining 30% was determined by the audience vote.
