Björn Þór Jóhannsson from Trassarnir was chosen as the most promising guitarist and singer.

There were twenty-four bands reportedly signed up, however, it seems only seventeen took part in the competion.

The following 17 bands competed: Ber að ofan, Blöndustrokkarnir, Elohim, The Evil pizza delivery boys, Frímann, Frk. Júlía, Hreinir sveinar, Hrói höttur og munkarnir, Nabblastrengir, Nerdir, Sauðfé á mjög undir högg að sækja í landi Reykjavíkur, Sérsveitin, Siggi hennar Önnu, Smaladrengirnir úr Neðra Koti (SÚNK), Strigaskór nr. 42, Trassarnir, and Við erum menn.
