The Hot Box (Hitakassinn)

Reykjavík Music City, in partnership with Hitt Húsið – Youth Center and Iceland Music (ÚTÓN), invites representatives for the final acts of IME 2023 to participate in a fun and practical course on the music industry after the competition has ended.

What is offered?

The course will consist of engaging lectures, panel discussions, and practical projects, covering all the important aspects of the music industry that musicians should know.

Participants will receive guidance on marketing, promotion, and creating promotional packages, as well as help with defining their target audience, financing music projects, and resolving technical issues with industry professionals, among other things. The course will also focus on strengthening the participants' networks within the Icelandic music industry, with guest speakers who are well-known in the industry.

Just over two weeks after the course, a concert will be held where participants can showcase their talent and perform in front of key people in the Icelandic music scene, putting into practice what they learned during the course.

The aim of the Hot Box program is to empower young musicians who are taking their first steps in the music industry by improving their knowledge and understanding of the industry. By providing them with the necessary tools and resources, the program seeks to equip participants to make informed decisions and develop their careers effectively.
