- The final night of the IME this year took place in the Reykjavík Art Museum/Hafnarhús.
- This was the inaugural year of Stage Europe Network and Of Monster and Men went to the Netherlands with Hitt Húsið and participated in one of their projects and The Assassin of a Beautiful Brunette went to Norway. Of Monster and Men later gained worldwide fame with their winning song Little Talks.
- A concert at Iceland Airwaves was part of a the prizes from Music Experiments and it was there that the radio station from Seattle, USA, KEXP recorded the song Little Talks from the band’s chamber concert. The band first toured North America in 2012 and sold out all 20 of their concerts there.
