Various facts from 2006:

  • In 2006, admission passes were sold for the first time. They were valid for all the semi-final nights and then gave priority to 1 ticket for the final night. The pass cost 2500 kr.
  • It’s worth noting that the 2005 Music Experiments winning band, Jakobínarína, played in Austin, Texas at the South By Southwest Festival along with 1300 other bands for all the major players in the music industry.
  • Prizes for 1st place: 20 hours with a sound engineer at Sundlaugin, the studio of Sigur Rós. Mbox 2 recorder along with software from Hljóðfærahúsið. 20.000 kr. withdrawal from 12 Tónar.
  • The winning band got to play at Iceland Airwaves in a good time slot.
  • All band members were given a trip to Manchester, England for concerts, a tour of studios and much more. All offered by Icelandair.
